We here at Quagmire Company are fully dedicated to reducing all global impacts from our business output. The sign business and screen printing industry can be wasteful and polluting if practiced irresponsibly. We have taken a stand against such behaviors and instituted the following policies or have continued use of current eco friendly policies.

-For over seven years now we have primarily used 100% biodegradable screen printing chemicals made from soy. These chemicals will not do harm to our precious water ways and protect our employees from harmful VOCs (Volatile organic compounds) that can cause a whole gamut of health problems. Click here for more info.

-We have been using environmentally friendly textile inks since almost day one. QCM based out of Kent Wa. has been producing some of the most environmentally responsible products available for the last ten years. They eliminated heavy metals, VOCs, and other harsh chemicals from their inks while still maintaining quality. For more info on QCM click here.

            - We have switched our cleaning process to include a "dip tank" for our screens. This tank elimitates several processes which use water to rinse off. This means we use less water for every screen we clean. This simple change add up to thousands of gallons of conserved water over the period of a year. And yes the chemicals in the dip tank are environmentally friendly too!

-Our stickers and signs are printed using UV cure inks instead of solvent based inks. This is safer for worker health and public health alike. UV inks clean up with biodegradable cleaners and require no extra VOC based solvents. This means no solvent output from UV printing.

-We have an exceptional recycling and reuse program in place. We recycle the ordinary stuff like office paper, cans, bottles etc. We also reuse shipping material filler and boxes whenever possible. We send old test shirts to fabric recycling plants. We donate scrap pieces of vinyl and old silk screens to schools for art projects. We are also developing new ways of reusing current waste products such as sign vinyl and cardboard tubes. We also offer "paperless" invoices via email.

-We are a participant in the Puget Sound Energy Green Power Program. Through this program we have insured that 100% of our power use is from renewable sources such as wind, solar and biomass processing.

-We offer organic and carbon neutral products for our screen printing textiles as well as made in the U.S.A. sweatshop free products. When you order from us you have many options for an ecologically sound product.

-We have joined with hundreds of other companies in Sustainable Connections promoting local businesses, eco-friendly practices and sustainable business models. For more information go to sconnect.org.

-We are a carbon neutral company who buys offsets for its transportation and non-renewable energy usage.  The carbon offsets go to projects like renewable energy, farm power and land fill gas capture.
